Over the hill wheel support: controller and keyboard first
Use a gamepad or keyboard for a supported starting setup. The developer’s initial-release plan does not include wheel force-feedback support, so postpone a wheel purchase made specifically for over the hill.
Quick guide
Initial-release support position; no tested wheel model or rotation setting.
- Start with a keyboard or gamepad.
- Check steering, throttle, brake, camera and map prompts on clear ground.
- Do not treat an external remapping profile as native wheel or force-feedback support.
Support is more than recognizing an input
A device being detectable by Windows does not establish a working wheel preset, steering range or force feedback inside the game. The official FAQ provides no supported-wheel model list or recommended rotation setting.
Choose an input you can use now
Use a keyboard or gamepad and review the current in-game bindings. If you try remapping a wheel through external software, treat that as your own experiment rather than native support. This guide does not promise compatibility for a particular Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec model.
When to stop troubleshooting the wheel
If steering, pedals or the camera only work through a remapping workaround, switch back to your keyboard or gamepad to continue the route. Do not spend the session changing rotation and force-feedback values when no supported profile is established. Revisit the wheel only after a developer update or a documented model-specific solution.
Sources & version notes
Developer FAQ prioritises keyboard/gamepad and says initial wheel support is not planned. A current model-specific driver/profile or later wheel update was not verified.
